At the beginning of the school year, I chose to participate in Ms. Bois’ and Ms. Silva’s short story class. We were told that the class would be about writing and developing our own writing skills and, eventually, writing our own stories. The class read a series of short stories and went on a trip to Symphony Space, where we saw three actors read these short stories out loud. The Symphony Space Theater on 96th street is known for its radio program, in which famous actors and actresses read short stories before a live audience. This is a milestone in CUNY Prep history because of the stereotype of out-of-school youth falling behind. The reality is that we did not fall behind. All of the time and hard work we put into these stories is shown through our work. Though we had our fears, we knew we would be outstanding. We prevailed and made history for our school.
